Date: Tue. November 11, 2008

Time: 6:00 pm

Location:
Lincoln Park
1150 W. Fullerton Avenue

About this event:
Kathy Kelly will talk about humanitarian concerns for Iraqis displaced by war, narrating stories told to her by Iraqi mothers and children over the past thirteen years.

Ms. Kelly co-coordinates Voices for Creative Nonviolence, a campaign to end military and economic warfare against Iraq.  As a co-founder of Voices in the Wilderness, she helped form 70delegations, from 1996 - 2003, that openly defied economic sanctions by bringing medicines to children and families in Iraq.   Kathy and her companions lived in Baghdad throughout the 2003 'Shock and Awe' bombing, and Voices maintained a presence there during the first year of U.S. occupation.
