Teacher in the Library
This program is for any elementary school student who visits the library after school. Accredited teachers are hired to provide a structured after-school learning environment for children in the library. The teacher helps the children to focus, use the appropriate learning strategies, and find the best resources for completing their homework assignments. The teacher is also available to answer parents' questions regarding their children's homework and offer suggestions on how parents can help their children at home with school assignments. This program has been extremely successful in providing children and their families with academic support and encouragement. Chicago Public Library locations receive funding for the Teacher in the Library program through the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
