Abstract
This collection is comprised of three titles published in the South Chicago neighborhood: The Calumet Record, The Daily Calumet and The South Chicago Daily Independent. While this collection contains no significant runs of any of the papers, many of the newspapers were saved because they specifically spoke to the history of the South Chicago neighborhood.
Biographical/Historical
The collection contains issues of three newspapers from the South Chicago neighborhood: Calumet Record, Daily Calumet and South Chicago Daily Independent. Each of the three newspapers began publishing in the 19th century. The Daily Calumet had the longest run, covering the area from 1881 to 1987.
Scope and Contents
This collection includes issues from The Calumet Record, The Daily Calumet and The South Chicago Daily Independent. While there are no significant runs of any of the papers, many of the newspapers were saved because they specifically spoke to the history of the South Chicago neighborhood.
