The 30th annual Will Eisner Comic Book awards were announced at Comic-Con in San Diego last week. These "Oscars of the comic book world" honor the best of the best, through a variety of different awards. Check out some of the winners below!
The awards for Best Publication for Teens, Best Writer, Best Painter, Best Cover Artist and Best Continuing Series all go to Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda. Set in an alternate matriarchal world in the1900s, Makia is on the run, in search of answers to the mysteries about her past and herself amidst gorgeous world-building.
Best New Series of 2018 goes to Black Bolt by Saladin Ahmed. Set in the Marvel Universe, Black Bolt wakes up in prison. To find out who imprisoned him and why, Black Bolt must fight to find answers.
Spinning by Tillie Walden won Best Reality-Based Work. In her debut graphic memoir, Walden describes her teenage struggle to decide whether or not to continue figure skating, something she's great at, but hates. As she falls in love with her first girlfriend and takes more interest in the world outside skating, she realizes there are other ways to find her voice.
