Adventures in Love

Romance readers of a certain age may have fond memories of the classic 80's movies, Romancing the Stone and The Jewel of the Nile. If you also enjoyed watching romance novelist Joan Wilder get swept into adventure, only to find love along the way, you may be thrilled to discover some of these new adventure romances.

Archaeologist Dr. Corrie Mejia has hated Dr. Ford Matthews since grad school.  Unfortunately, he somehow got appointed to lead an expedition to uncover the long-lost remains of her Aztec ancestor. In Jo Segura's Raiders of the Lost Heart, will they be able to put their past differences aside to make a discovery that could change their lives forever?

Christina Lauren has become a big name in the romance genre. In Something Wilder they introduce Lily Wilder, daughter of notorious treasure hunter Duke Wilder. When her father's past comes back to haunt her, Lily must team up with first love, Leo Grady, to make it through the wilderness alive.

Not everyone who finds themselves in the wilderness wants to be there. In The Jewel of the Isle by Kerry Rea, Emily Edwards is only coming to Isle Royale National Park because it was a dream of her deceased father. Unfortunately, the tour guide she hires also doesn't know much about the great outdoors, and is only there because of his late brother, an experienced wilderness guide. When they stumble across murderous jewel hunters, they must team up and rely on each other to get off the island alive.

In Romancing Miss Stone by M.C. Vaughn, it's just the guy who doesn't know what he's getting into. Fortunately for Bo Ferguson, the guide he's hired to get to his runaway ex-girlfriend's dig site knows exactly what she's doing. Unfortunately, Alexandra Stone has some problems of her own that follow them into the jungle.

Forests and jungles aren't the only place to have an adventure. In Whiteout by Adriana Anders, Angel Smith and Ford Cooper must survive the remote and inhospitable wilderness of Antarctica after their research station is attacked by unknown enemies.

A good adventure romance can also take place in a completely fictional world, and with more than just a couple. In Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland, former spy Avra, pirate captain Tev, and hot monk Julian plot, scheme and fall in love while having the adventure of a lifetime.
