Esther Barlow – Immigrant Stories
Esther Barlow was a children’s librarian at Chicago Public Library for almost 50 years, from 1927 to 1976, including over 20 years as the head of the children's department at Hild Regional Library. She is most fondly remembered for her work as a storyteller and for the story hours she held with generations of children in Chicago. This video uses the Esther A. Barlow Collection at the Northside Neighborhood History Collection at Sulzer Regional Library to explore her work as a librarian and storyteller.
