Now that the dust has settled from the first weeks back at school, we thought we’d celebrate our youngest readers. We took a look around at home, in libraries, at school, and out and about. Here’s what we caught kiddos reading between hitting those textbooks.
We spotted little ones reading, with a little help from parents and other loved ones, the popular Piggie and Elephant books by Mo Willems, including Are You Ready to Play Outside? and Should I Share My Ice Cream? We also cozied up to read the tried-and-true Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
We spied some big kids devouring fun titles like Rise of the Balloon Goons from the Notebook of Doom series and The Princess in Black from the series of the same name. And, we were happy to see some of the classics still being enjoyed, like the Junie B. Jones books by Barbara Park and the Anastasia series by Lois Lowry.
Finally, it looks like we have some comic and graphic novel fans! We spotted a wide array of titles. Everything from Star Wars to caped crusaders in DC SuperHero Girls. Plus there were some newer titles such as Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier and the Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi. And as STEAM-loving librarians, our hearts skipped a beat when we spotted Secret Coders in the hands of one young reader.
There you have it. Our kids are reading up a storm and we couldn’t be happier! What are your littles reading these days? We’d love to hear!
