Guest Blog: Keep Kids Learning with MSI

Today we're featuring a guest blog by Bryan Wunar, director of community initiatives at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. He joins us to talk about the museum’s hands-on science activities and its collaborations with the Chicago Public Library.

Just because school is out doesn’t mean learning should stop. One way to keep kids’ minds engaged is with hands-on activities from the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago.

MSI’s Summer Brain Games program offers eight free and fun science experiments you can do at home with kids of all ages using things usually found around the house. Explore space-themed activities like learning about pressure as you launch a rocket, engineering a protective landing pod for an “egg-stronaut” and much more.

Families who sign up to be a part of the Summer Brain Games will receive a voucher for a FREE museum entry ticket so they can visit MSI this summer. They’ll also get a weekly email with tips and ideas on how to play with science all summer long. Summer Brain Games is also part of Chicago Public Library’s Summer Learning Challenge.

MSI will be bringing its Summer Brain Games activities into Chicago’s neighborhoods this summer. Starting this week, high school students who are interning with the museum are spending time at 18 Chicago Public Library locations engaging children in space science experiments. Find complete event details in CPL's calendar.
