It's that time of year again when cheesy holiday movies are prevalent on TV and people watch their favorites over and over. The Holiday has been one of my favorites to watch every year. It may be cheesy, but there's something sweet about it that gets me every time. The trading of homes, a new experience in a new country and a sweet old neighbor make for a cozy night in during these already cold temperatures.
Love Actually has become a classic. I've even already seen people posting about it on Facebook. This movie highlights different aspects of love by following a variety of characters, some whose lives overlap, through the weeks before Christmas. If you like stories about love and Christmas, this is definitely one to check out.
No matter what time of year it is, I always love Bridget Jones's Diary (both the book and the movie). This movie still cracks me up with all of Bridget's mishaps and miscommunications. Plus for people of a certain age, this was the introduction to the awesomeness of Colin Firth. It's easy to forget that it takes place around the holidays because it's more than just a holiday movie; it's a hilarious mix of family parties, drinks with friends and reading all the wrong signs when it comes to looking for love.
