Manga Series You Can Read Entirely Over Winter Break

Looking for a manga series to read over winter break? Longer series such as Bleach with 74 volumes, or One Piece with 107 volumes, are great, but getting that many volumes read in the two weeks before school starts again is incredibly daunting. These series all have less than 10 volumes and can be read in their entirety before school starts back up in January.

In Your Name, Mitsuha lives in a remote mountain town and begins having dreams where she's a boy living in Tokyo. Taki, a high schooler in Tokyo, has strange dreams that he is a girl living in the mountains. The two begin to swap lives, and together they begin to unravel why this is happening to them. This series is three volumes long.

In this four-volume series, Boys Run the Riot follows Ryo,a transgender high schooler who struggles to feel accepted at school. He makes friends with Jin, a cisgender transfer student and social outcast, after discovering they share an interest in men's street fashion. The unlikely pair decide to start their own fashion brand, called Boys Run the Riot.

Blank Canvas: My So Called Artist's Journey is five volumes long. It is the autobiographical story of manga artist Akiko Higashimura. High school-aged Akiko longs to make manga, and signs up for art classes to make her dream a reality. However, her art teacher is no-nonsense and doesn't care about manga. Even worse, he wields a bamboo sword to keep the class in line. Despite their differences, this teacher may be exactly what she needs.

In this six-volume series, Cells at Work is set inside a human body. Our two main characters are a red blood cell called AE3803, and a white blood cell that goes by Neutrophil. AE3803's job is to make deliveries throughout the body such as carrying oxygen from one place to the other but tends to get lost and run into trouble. Neutrophil's job is to fight and kill germs and diseases that enter the body. The two become friends after he saves her from an attacking bacterium, and they work together to keep the body safe and healthy.

In A Silent Voice, Shoya leads his middle school classmates to bully the new girl in school, Shoko, who happens to be deaf. This bullying campaign gets him in trouble with the principal, alienates him from his friends, and causes Shoko to transfer schools. Years later, as a senior in high school, Shoya tries to find Shoko to make amends. This heartwarming story takes place over seven volumes.
