Urbanologist and Chicago history expert Max Grinnell presented Hello Chicago! as part of the 2020 One Book, One Chicago season.
Chicago is frequently thought of as an immigrant hub in the popular imagination. While it certainly continues to see new arrivals from distant and not-so-distant lands, some groups have been more welcome than others. In this talk, history and urbanologist Max Grinnell will look at how New Englanders, Germans, Irish, and African Americans became a part of this rapidly growing metropolis.
