Street style is fashion that people wear in everyday urban life. You don't need money or designer labels to participate, and it stresses individuality over conformity.
Paris Street Style showcases women who specialize in "the cultivation of effortless chic." Although inventiveness is encouraged, there are certain rules like not wearing Converse after age 26 or hair scrunchies ever. The gorgeous pictures of Parisian women's outfits inspired me to step up my look. Interviews with opinionated designers made me realize that fashion can be a deeper topic than just what you wear.
The opposite approach is that of Refinery29, in which the only rule seems to be looking a bit weird. This style guide features women on the streets of New York wearing eclectic ensembles, along with instructions for how to be fearless in fashion.
Men in This Town features candid shots of stylish men on the streets of five international cities (Milan was my favorite).
Learn to show off your new style via Instagram with Capture Your Style. Aimee Song tells how she became an Instagram star by posting her outfit photos and curating her feed. If you don't know what this means, don't worry, as she explains how to use the app. Her photos are surprisingly interesting, and she describes the elements that make for successful shots.
