Supporting the scripts are research materials, news clippings, newsletters, photographs, production notes, reviews, and audiocassettes relating to research in the Dramaturg's Office.

Biographical/Historical

Tom Creamer became Dramaturg for the Goodman Theatre in 1986. He worked on Robert Falls’s productions of The Iceman Cometh, The Tempest, Death of a Salesman, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and King Lear; JoAnne Akalaitis’s production of ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore; Frank Galati’s productions of The Winter’s Tale and The Good Person of Setzuan; Michael Maggio’s productions of Romeo & Juliet, As You Like It and A Midsummer Night’s Dream; David Petrarca’s productions of Mill Fire and Marvin’s Room; as well as Red Noses and The Rover. His 1989 adaptation of A Christmas Carol has been presented for over three decades and has also appeared at the New American Theatre in Rockford, Illinois and the Wagon Wheel Playhouse in Indiana. His translation, with Siri Senje, of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler was produced by the Guthrie Theater in Minnesota in 1984 and by Chicago’s Touchstone Theatre in 1988. He created staged adaptations of Mark Twain’s Roughing It and Theodore Dreiser’s Sister Carrie, both for Touchstone. Creamer has taught adaptation for the stage at Chicago Dramatists Workshop and theater history at DePaul and Roosevelt Universities. Before coming to Chicago, he was literary manager of the Empty Space Theatre in Seattle and worked as dramaturg at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.
