- Builder and contractor; owned a lumberyard and was proprietor of a dry goods and grocery store
- Served as chief engineer of the Fire Department
- Served several years as alderman
- Survived by four children
- Died May 7, 1872 in West Lyons, Ill.
- Buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago
