ChiTeen Lit Fest season launches now!
Teens,Mark your calendars: The 2019 fest takes place Friday and Saturday, April 26-27 at Harold Washington Library Center and Columbia College Chicago.
This for-teens-by-teens festival includes workshops, maker and interactive experiences, panels, connections to professional writers and artists, and more for Chicago's storytellers 13 to 19. Registration is free and opens February 16. Food will be provided for all teen participants.
The 2019 festival features special guests Akenya, Haley Cao, Eve L. Ewing, Ricardo Gamboa, A.D. Jameson and Natalie Moore.
Lead-Up Events
ChiTeen Lit workshops for new and seasoned teen writers start in February. These events are in partnership with:
- 826CHI (Chi-Town Stand Up)
- Henry Williams Love Foundation (Modge Podge Poetry)
- Steppenwolf Theater (Proud to Present a Presentation about the Herero of Namibia)
- Clement Townsend (Sports Media 101)

Writer of the Week
Each week leading up to the festival, you can have your work featured on the ChiTeen Lit Fest website. Simply submit your poetry, fiction, nonfiction and essay, reviews, blogs, scripts, lyrics or graphic novel panels.
Bookmark Contest
Would you like to get your poetry in front of hundreds of people? Great! Submit up to three poems that meet the submission guidelines for a chance to have your poem featured on the official 2019 ChiTeen Lit Fest bookmark. Submissions due by March 3.
