On Saturday, June 28 the Blackstone Branch children’s room annex celebrated 75 years of serving children and their families. Built as a result of a WPA grant and dedicated in 1939, the children’s room opened to enthusiastic Hyde Park kids and their families. In 1980 the children’s annex underwent a major renovation. In January the older section of the building celebrated 110 years of serving Kenwood and Hyde Park communities.
Fourth Ward Alderman Will Burns joined the celebration by reading Snowy Day by Ezra Jacks Keats and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems. Then Alderman Burns and the children cut the cake celebrating the space.
