Garfield Ridge Branch hosts a Hispanic Heritage Month art exhibit featuring the work of local artist Bertha Trujillo.
Trujillo's exhibit Mi Padre will be on display from September 15 through October 15.
Artist Statement
This exhibit showcases my father in different ways. The charcoal drawing was completed during my academic career, when my father always pushed me forward. Wind Resistant shows the struggle of a Mexican family stuck between their homeland and Chicago. This was framed by my father, whose trade is carpentry. Lastly, his portrait is my tribute to him for his continued love, support, praise and inspiration.
Trujillo will give an Artist Talk on Saturday, September 30 at Garfield Ridge Branch.
