Blackstone Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit during May 2018 featuring artist Danbee (Deb) Kim.
Born in South Korea and raised in the U.S., Danbee commits to sharing her stories as a Korean in diaspora and illuminating the intergenerational spectrum of voices of those who came before her. This June, Danbee will graduate from the University of Chicago's Social Service Administration program. The intersection of pragmatic creative expression and lived experience in the nonprofit sector allows Danbee to combine peer-taught and community-supported illustration and design acumen with her understanding of group needs and limitations. Upon graduation, Danbee is committed to building the visual language and communication landscape for change-making entities.
Danbee is also a member of For the People Artists Collective, a group of artists of color who create art rooted in campaigns uplifting those in the margins. See more of Danbee’s illustration and commission work.
