Sulzer Regional Library hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit through the month of May featuring artist Jungyul Yu.
Jungyul Yu holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio and an M.F.A. in Studio Art from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. She is currently painting with oil and mixed media and taking photos, continuing her passion for photography that she developed while at Kenyon College. In her work, she visually records personal times and spaces by depicting scenes among many still shots that are scattered in her conscious and subconscious realms. These visual journals often portray simple landscapes and landscape-like, abstract images during different seasons and times of day. She frequently uses found objects such as hair, leaves, flower petals, tree bark, and textured paper. Image-transfer - her own drawings or photos onto a painting surface - is often a key technique in her work and provides another level of visual harmony with oil paints.
