Wrightwood-Ashburn Branch hosts a Polish American Heritage Month art exhibit in October featuring artist Laura Sedor.
Laura Sedor has been in love with photography since she picked up her dad’s 35mm SLR camera way back in mid-high school. After graduating Southern Illinois University with a bachelor of fine arts in photography, she got caught up in life; marriage, office jobs and everything got in the way of her art. After many years of denying her passion, in 2009 she decided to drop her boring job, buy a DSLR camera and get back into photography.
Working now as a full-time professional photographer, traveling and practicing her art has enhanced her life. She has participated in several exhibitions and has written two magazine articles on her Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip to Tajikistan. In February 2013 she participated in the Weir Farm AIR program and in summer 2016 she will have the pleasure of participating in the English Harbour AIR program in Newfoundland, Canada. She plans to continue to participate with volunteer organizations and she keeps searching for more AIR as well as other opportunities, and hopes to take her art to the next level.
