Budlong Woods Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit through the month of May featuring artist Mina Hsing.
Mina Hsing is a prolific painter, who was born in Shanghai, China. She studied classical Chinese brush painting during her childhood. After Mina came to America, she studied art at the University of California and later graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago, in 1967. In particular, she is an expert in realistic and abstract Western styles of art as well as Chinese brush painting using various mediums, such as oil, acrylic, water color or metallic oil. She usually specializes in paintings which are done on an individual basis to fit specific rooms. In the past, she used to teach Chinese brush painting and exhibited her work throughout New York, North Carolina, and Virginia where she received numerous awards for her work.
