Dunning Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit through the month of May featuring artist Susan Silvano.
Susan Alforque Silvano has had a good career as an accountant, but her talent for painting and strong desire to start a second career led her to join a watercolor class in 2008. Her paintings reflect the diary of her life. She recreates her lifetime’s experiences through her watercolor art and shares her creative energies by teaching art to senior citizens and by printing artist shirts and art calendars titled “Make Time to Create Happy Memories.”
She paints in vibrant, earthy colors with textures and patterns. Before she paints, she knows in her mind’s eyes how the picture will look, interpreting what she sees and feels. In her own words,
my eyes are the camera lens and my hands develop my art.
