Art Exhibit by Vaiju Saraf at Mount Greenwood Branch

Mount Greenwood Branch hosts a 2018 Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit during the month of May featuring artist Vaiju Saraf.

After 19 years in a corporate career, Saraf decided to pursue her passion for art. What started off as a relaxing break from a hectic work schedule soon became a creative endeavor. Her paintings generally include landscapes and nature. She has very fond memories of staying in Chicago during a job assignment and exploring the beauty and culture that the city offers and loved every bit. She is an avid traveler, and experiencing art from various sojourns gives her great insight. She loves to observe the obviously beautiful and sometimes quirky scenes of the places she travels. These are her “Pinterest mood boards” for future use.

During recent visits to Turkey and Spain, Saraf was mesmerized by mosaic art and decided to learn it. This process involves cutting glass pieces. She enjoys creating art fusions where there's a combination of art from two different regions. Her travel has been her inspiration for art, and she sometimes wonders if art is her passion or vice versa.
