McKinley Park Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit through the month of May featuring Virginia Lai and artists from the Get Along Arts Club, opens a new window.
Virginia Lai's work is steeped in the ancient traditions of Chinese painting and calligraphy. A frequent presenter at Chicago Public Library programs, Lai has shared her knowledge of classical Chinese arts for years with library patrons. Her programs on writing basic Chinese characters have fascinated and delighted children and adults alike, and this year her original artwork will be on display once again to draw viewers into the world of grace and refinement.
Get Along Arts Club is a group of artists who gather every weekend to encourage each other and share their knowledge in creative arts. The group organizes annual exhibits in Chinese calligraphy and painting to celebrate the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
