Lincoln Park Branch hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibit during May 2018 featuring artist Young Cho.
Young Cho was born and raised in Seoul, Korea and currently resides in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University and her Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Displacement and the search for context is the thread that runs through Cho’s work. Cho finds contexts for each moment, then consciously assembles those moments into a linear experience. An image emerges as she attempts to depict this assembly of experience into an order that makes instinctual sense. The analytical effort of this assembly is both the process and the theme, and the image is the result.
