Chinatown Branch and McKinley Park Branch are hosting Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month art exhibits throughout May featuring the work of artist Virginia Lai.
Lai's work is steeped in the ancient traditions of Chinese painting and calligraphy. A frequent presenter at Chicago Public Library, Lai has shared her knowledge of classical Chinese arts for years with library patrons. Her programs on writing basic Chinese characters have fascinated and delighted children and adults alike. This year her original artwork will be on display to once again draw viewers into worlds of grace and refinement.
