Approval of minutes for the April 16, 2019 meeting (action required)
The Board voted (7-0) to approve the minutes for the April 16, 2019 meeting
Nomination of New Commissioner for Chicago Public Library (action required)
President Rice announced Mayor Lightfoot’s nomination of Andrea Telli as the next Commissioner for Chicago Public Library, effective June 15, 2019. Commissioner Bannon formally notified the Board in April 2019 of his intent to resign as Commissioner effective June 14, 2019.
Currently, Ms. Telli serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Public Services for the Chicago Public Library. In this role, Ms. Telli manages the operations for the Library’s 81 locations and has led one of CPL’s largest periods of capital investments. Ms. Telli has represented CPL as a mentor librarian through the International Network of Emerging Library Leaders (INELI), funded through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to this, Ms. Telli has also served as Central District Chief for CPL, and Manager of the Humboldt Park Branch, among other roles.
President Rice declared the following:
WHEREAS, the Chicago Public Library has been established and operates pursuant to the Illinois Local Libraries Act and the Municipal Code of Chicago, and
WHEREAS, the Governance of the Chicago Public Library has been conferred on the Board of Directors of the Library, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has been granted authority to appoint a qualified librarian; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Chicago Public Library, that Andrea Telli is hereby appointed Commissioner of the Chicago Public Library.
The Board voted (7-0) to approve Andrea Telli as the new Commissioner of the Chicago Public Library.
