Did you know that Chicago Public Library has a Library of Things? It is available at the Uptown Branch in Buena Park. The Library of Things is an ever-expanding collection of items that aim to make your life easier (such as with the Bissell Little Green Cleaner), delight you (like this telescope) or allow you to try something you have thought about purchasing (sous vide device, vacuum food sealer, tortilla press), but aren't quite ready to commit.
This collection, made possible by the Chicago Public Library Foundation's Community Connections Fund, serves as a new way to think about your local library: CPL is a place you can look to for all your needs, not just your educational and entertainment needs. You can check out:
- a bubble machine
- a cornhole set
- a popcorn maker for your next kids (or adult!) birthday party
- a pasta maker
- a deep fryer
- an ice cream maker for a family or friends' feast
And so much more. CPL regularly adds new items to the Library of Things, including a forthcoming range of musical instruments.
To access the Library of Things, visit the Uptown Branch to check out items. Items are available for one week with an automatic one-week renewal and must be returned to the Uptown Branch during open hours.
