Chicago Public Library’s Teen Services Department is excited to announce the launch of the 2017-2018 ChiTeen Lit Fest season!
Fall-spring workshops for new or seasoned teen writers in partnership with the following literary organizations kick off citywide October 7:
- WFMT (Talking Turntables series)
- Young Chicago Authors (Check the Method programs)
- Revolving Door Arts (We Real Cool series)
- Steppenwolf Theater (Step Out series)
- C2E2 (Two Pop-Up Events)
- Kuumba Lynx (Hip Hop Justice)
- Brown and Proud Press (BYOZine)
- NaNoWriMo
- 826CHI (Chi-Town Stand Up)
- Contexture Media Network (Your Story in VR)
Mark Your Calendars: The 2018 Fest will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, 2018 at Harold Washington Library Center and Columbia College Chicago. There will workshops, panels, demos, readings, making activities, and exhibits for teens.
Call for Proposals: We're interested in adults and/or teens interested in hosting an interactive activity or presenting a workshop at ChiTeen Lit Fest! Submit your proposal here. Proposals will be reviewed and chosen by the ChiTeen Lit Fest Teen Advisory Council, and must be received by noon CST on November 20.
Writer of the Week: Each week teen writers can be featured on the official ChiTeen Lit Fest Writer of the Week page. Simply submit your writing here (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, essays, reviews, blogs, scripts or music lyrics).
