Chicago Public Library Foundation, we expanded the OBOC program with the selection of The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. Throughout the entire year, we focused our programs on central and related themes around the history of the Great Migration. We created opportunities for in-depth exploration of those themes, presenting programs throughout the Chicago Public Library system and at partner organizations.
Thank you for taking part in One Book, One Chicago. This is one of many innovative programs offered by Chicago Public Library where we strive to present you with multiple opportunities to expand your literary, cultural and educational horizons. In 2013, with support from theFor 2014–2015 with the support Mayor Rahm Emanuel, we are pleased to present The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon as the choice for OBOC. From this selection, we focus programming on themes around the subject of Heroes: Real & Imagined. With continued support from the Chicago Public Library Foundation, programs will be presented in a season-long exploration from October through spring 2015.
To help initiate this exploration, library staff has created this program guide, available in libraries and online, with information about the author and the book including discussion questions, reading suggestions and information on upcoming programs. We have added additional print copies of the book, along with eBook copies, to our collections and encourage you to check out a copy and to read this wonderful book. Chicago Public Library’s website will offer additional information and exciting updates about the OBOC program throughout the upcoming season.
