Congratulations to the fall On the Money interns for their hot-off-the-press publication of a new magazine now available in YOUmedia, and soon to be available at all our locations and Chicago Public School high schools.
Miriam Gutierrez, Financial Outreach Manager from the office of Kurt Summers, City Treasurer of Chicago, presented certificates of completion and accomplishment to Fall 2015 On the Money participants. Our December graduation and magazine publication celebration included final presentations from the Entrepreneurship Track committees, as well as from two former (2009) interns, Jordyn and Maribel.
These alumni spoke about some of their most memorable experiences as interns, including one-to-one interviews with celebrities, networking opportunities, participating in the production team and communication skills. In addition, a special guest On the Money scholarship winner, Aleah, spoke about how significant creating a savings plan has helped her meet her goal of buying her first car in 9-10 months, as well as getting her own apartment.
The Winter 2016 On the Money internship begins on February 9. For full internship consideration, teens in high school should send their full name and contact information with a writing sample and possible resume to teen services before Friday, January 15. Candidates will be contacted for phone or in-person interviews with Economic Awareness Council before Jan. 29.
