Defy Gravity this summer at your local library during our Teen Summer Challenge for ages 14-18.
We've rounded up the best space themed books and there will be hundreds of events just for teens with hands-on activities throughout the summer! Come hang out as we explore science, technology, engineering, art and math, or if alien invasions, world-ending asteroids and Star Wars are your thing, we've got that, too!
Visit your local branch to participate and register where you'll receive a launch card to track your progress as well as more information on weekly raffles, prizes and more.
Here's the challenge:
- READ anything you'd like for 600 minutes. Books, blogs, magazines, comics and online reading count!
- DISCOVER six new things. Find a cool new website or discover a new place in your neighborhood.
- CREATE six pieces. Make a drawing, video, poem, craft or anything you'd like.
- ACHIEVE: Congrats! You've read 600 minutes, discovered six new things and created six artifacts.
- SUPERNOVA: Want to do more? Read 100 minutes or Discover one new thing or Create one new artifact to earn Supernova status!
Be sure to include #cpldefygravity when you share your reading, discovering and creating on social media!
All teens who complete the challenge will be invited to an end of summer celebration, so remember to stop by your library to share what you're doing throughout the summer.
