Under the Sun: Landscape As Allegory, Paintings by Ellen Holtzblatt is on display from February 1 to April 15 in the 8th floor exhibit cases at Harold Washington Library Center.
Ellen Holtzblatt’s paintings explore the connection between the physical and the spiritual, in which land, sky and sea become allegories for psyche and emotion. Holtzblatt chooses disparate but specific places, such as the Midwestern prairie, Scottish islands and the coast of Maine to express how nature, seeming beyond the control of humans, can stir the soul.
Holtzblatt will give an artist talk at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 20 in the Chicago Authors Room on the 7th floor of Harold Washington Library Center.
