Essential Forms: Ceramic Sculpture by Gina Lee Robbins is on display September 24 to January 15 at Harold Washington Library Center. See her work in the Popular Library exhibit cases on the ground floor and the flat exhibit cases on the 8th floor.
Gina Lee Robbins creates sculptural objects by intuitively manipulating clay and found materials. Her biomorphic forms are weighty and spontaneous, referencing the essence of sentient life and often subtly alluding to familiar artifacts. Largely self-taught, Robbins has been exhibiting throughout the Midwest and southeast United States for over 25 years.
Her sculptures can be found in corporate and private collections worldwide. A native Chicagoan, Robbins grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida. She currently lives, and works in a shared studio, in Oak Park.
Robbins will give an Artist Talk at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17 in the Chicago Authors Room on the 7th floor of Harold Washington Library Center.
