Families and kids of all ages, come to Day of Play from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 1 at Harold Washington Library Center. It’s a day when play rules, and it’s all about learning, literacy, community and fun.
Our second annual Day of Play features picture book author and artist Antoinette Portis. Her book Not A Box is an ingenious celebration of childhood and imagination.
The day also features the Global Cardboard Challenge: Build awesome creations out of cardboard. The library is supplying the cardboard—just bring your creative spark.
Other play activities include LEGOⓇ building, group games, tinkering, books, puppets and costumes. Puppet stage and puppet play from TriBraining, Inc. with Marilyn Price.
Buses are bringing families in from neighborhood libraries around Chicago. Community bus pickups are scheduled at Austin, Blackstone, Budlong Woods, Greater Grand Crossing, South Shore, Toman, West Belmont and West Lawn branches.
