This summer, we asked our Summer Learning Challenge participants to tell us what it would be like if they were the first person to ever land on a new planet or meet a space creature. Hundreds of kids from all over the city used their imaginations and their research skills to create projects to tell us their stories.
We received so many excellent entries it was tough to pick the winners! The following participants were selected for their super-stellar projects and will each receive a bag full of space themed books and activities:
- Layla, age 5, from the Garfield Ridge Branch for her amazing alien artistry
- Marlen, age 7, from the Chicago Lawn Branch for her book, The Trip to Jupiter
- Landen, age 8, from the Independence Branch for his book, I Meet Isah
- Thalia, age 9, from the Edgewater Branch for her space-tacular story
- Samantha, age 11, from the Albany Park Branch, for her planetary poetry, lunar reporting and far out facts
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who turned in an entry!
