West Belmont Branch hosts a music concert in celebration of Polish American Heritage Month, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 14 featuring the internationally known group, Eddie Korosa Jr. and the Boys from Illinois.
The concert will include a toe-tapping performance of Polka music along with favorite standards, from big band waltzes and swing to rock and roll and country for music lovers of all ages.
This well-loved, energetic band has been performing together since 1976. Eddie Jr. started out playing drums at his parents Baby Doll Polka Club in Chicago at the age of 7, with his Dads band, America's Prince of Polkas: Eddie Korosa and his "Merry Makers". A few years later, he started playing the Accordion and Button Box. In 1990 Eddie and the Boys were featured in the movie "Home Alone" as John Candy's Polka Band. Eddie Korosa, Jr. is a recipient of many awards including the 2012 Chicago Music Awards “Lifetime Achievement" Award in recognition of over 45 years of Polka entertaining and the 2013 "Best Polka Entertainer" of the year award.
