The Maker Lab calendar is now available as a Google Calendar. Special thanks to Emily, our superstar programming coordinator, for putting it together. You can still find our events on the CPL site under Innovation Lab and sign up at Eventbrite.
We added the Google Calendar because it’s easier to view when the lab is in use for classes, and when it’s open for dropping by. Private events are reservations made for YOUmedia, our high school students, and for staff training.
Inventables, the hardware store for designers, is launching locations pages, and the Maker Lab is honored to have the first page. Much of our material is sourced through Inventables which is only a short walk away at Van Buren and Jefferson streets. We’re grateful for the support and expertise Inventables has provided us in person and email.
With location pages, makerspaces all over will be able to check out each other’s equipment and projects, and traveling makers will know where to find a space to visit and talk shop. Watch for developments, or create an account today to follow us and share your projects to inspire and challenge new and experienced makers everywhere. Thanks to Zach, Jeff, Ed and Sam for welcoming us into the fold and helping us go further than we imagined!
The Maker Lab is a 2013 Top 100 Nominee for the Chicago Innovation Awards in the Education, Arts and Athletics category (you should see us running around the lab!). Take a minute and vote for us. You’ll be asked for your name and email address, and you can skip ahead to our category, or check out some of the other exciting nominees–we’re in amazing company!
