The Harold Washington Library Center is celebrating its 25th birthday! October marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Harold Washington Library Center, and we're celebrating with programs throughout the month.
Our main stage commemoration of this milestone will be on Wednesday, October 19 at 6pm. Architectural historian and photographer Lee Bey presents a program on the history of the Harold Washington Library Center, from its inception, through the design and construction process and its impact on Chicago and the South Loop.
In addition, two special art tours of the Harold Washington Library Center, focusing on the impressive collection of original artwork on display throughout the building, will take place on October 11 and October 25.
Join us as we celebrate the 25th "birthday" of one of Chicago's iconic landmarks!
