YOUmedia is excited to welcome teens from Iraq this Friday while they visit the U.S. through the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP).
This exchange program is a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Youth Division and the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, and World Learning.
Some of the goals of this program include:
- Enabling the participants to understand civic participation and the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy
- Developing leadership skills
- Fostering understanding and building relationships across ethnic, religious, and national groups
- Promoting mutual understanding between the people of Iraq and the United States.
The IYLEP participants, 13 high school students and one adult mentor from Iraq, will receive a tour of the YOUmedia space as well as time to hang out and mess around. We're happy they chose YOUmedia as one of their stops during their Chicago visit.
