Cool Classics program at Jackie Robinson Elementary School visited Blackstone Branch to hearThe Story of Ferdinand. After listening to the story they were able to tell which parts children's librarian Tina liked and compared her reading with others who had also read the story.
While at the branch they received a tour and applications for library cards. Back at school, students created drawings and other artwork related to the story and the creations are now on display at the branch.
Cool Classics is a program designed to introduce children to classic stories. Founder of the program Mara Tapp has worked with other schools and libraries in Chicago to bring to life timeless stories for a new generation of children.
