Peer 2 Peer University to host study groups to support learners who want to complete online courses together, in-person at the library.
We’re partnering withEach course teaches you a new skill, but even more exciting is the chance to join with other people from your community and learn something new together in the library.
Register online for the following courses:
- Academic Writing: Worried your English writing isn’t good enough for university? Learn the basics of university-level academic writing.
- 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Tuesdays; May 12 to June 9 at Edgewater Branch
- GED® Prep Math: Studying for your GED certification or a high school equivalency credential? Prepare for the math sections of these tests.
- 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Thursdays; May 7 to June 11 at Edgewater Branch
- Programming with Python: This introduction to Python programming is a friendly taster for beginners. Get started with your first coding project.
- 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturdays; May 2 to June 6 at Harold Washington Library Center
- Public Speaking: Learn about public speaking and begin practicing right away as you deliver two presentations on topics of your choice.
- 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays; May 6 to June 17 at Harold Washington Library Center

We’ve designed the course time so you gain experience giving and receiving feedback, working in groups and feeling comfortable working online.
- The courses will run for between five and seven weeks.
- We’ll provide computers and all necessary course materials.
- A community organizer will guide your study group through the materials.
- You can always slow down or speed up your own pace, as all materials are online throughout the course.
- Most courses are designed so you can complete the work during each week’s meeting. But we encourage you to stay engaged during the rest of the week. See individual course listings for more details.
- You’ll receive a certificate from P2PU and CPL at the end of the course.
