3rd Annual ChiTeen Lit Fest Set for April 13-14

Save the date for the third annual ChiTeen Lit Fest on April 13 and 14. Register online now!

This festival, created by teens for teens, celebrates all things literature. ChiTeen Lit Fest seeks to bring together young people from across Chicago and celebrate their talents as they express themselves through exceptional and honest art.

Headliners this year are:

  • Alverne Ball, graphic novelist
  • Jessie Ann Foley, novelist
  • Alex V. Hernandez, journalist and editor
  • Alison Ogunmokun, poet and writer
  • Sejahari Saulter-Villegas, writer and performer

Plus, the teen team selected over 30 professional writers and artists to share their experience.

Schedule

Friday Night Kick-Off Party (Harold Washington Library Center, 6-10 pm): ChiTeen Lit Fest and DJ Lisa Decibel get things started with great food, music, dancing, performances and snazzy button making.

Saturday Teens-Only Festival (Columbia College, 623 S. Wabash Avenue, 10 am-6:30 pm): Tell stories through music, art, and writing, take walking tours of public art, talk to published and established writers and artists, make stuff and get insider knowledge to improve your creative skills.

Featured programs include: Writing for Activists, Urban Nichepanel on street art, Can't Get You Outta My Headline, Fashion, Lifestyle and Storytelling Through Blogging, Poets & Zine Making, Mr Ms Mx: From He to Ze Explore Your Identity and more!
