Kaye Buchman: Other Pages, Other Books is on display April 25 through June 3 at Harold Washington Library Center in the 8th floor Flat and Upright Exhibit Cases.
Kaye Buchman's books are the backbone of her creative practice. The design, assembly and visualization of each book supports the development of new ideas, image expansion and technical proficiency. Intuitive responses and the essence of discovery guide the organic unfolding of visual worlds that fill her books with a spirited mix of memories, meanderings and meditations.
The artist received a bachelor of fine arts in printmaking from Illinois State University and a master of fine arts in painting and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She lives and works in Chicago, mentors students at her studio in East Rogers Park, and teaches drawing and painting at Lillstreet Art Center and the Oak Park Art League. She exhibits her work locally and nationally.
Buchman will present an Artist Talk at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 in the Chicago Authors Room on the 7th floor of Harold Washington Library Center. She will present a Workshop: Making Artist Books Out of Recycled Books at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21 in Room 8S 14&15 at Harold Washington Library Center.
