Chicago Public Library was lucky to host Lainey Bell (pictured, right, creating an account with Christi), a LinkedIn Customer Success Manager, for a teen workshop on creating LinkedIn accounts, and wants to share some takeaways with you!
LinkedIn, opens a new window is a professional social network recommended for working teens in high school and adults. Lainey explained that "LinkedIn gives teens larger access to a professional world that will help them discover who they want to be and what they want to do."
You can use LinkedIn to make connections with family, friends and others. First, start by creating a profile and next, develop your network (you can request recommendations from teachers and mentors). Also, be sure to learn about Teen Privacy Settings, opens a new window.
Be sure to check out the vast variety of PowerPoints, including presentations on social networking, interview do’s and don’ts and resume writing. You can even use this network for researching colleges.
