“What is a Weekend?”
As our inaugural MASTERPIECE™ Book Club series ends this March, we bid adieu to the grandeur of Downton Abbey and introduce ourselves to the Women’s Institute, whose members united the towns and villages in Britain with their contributions supporting the Second World War home front.
Our season finale presents with two wonderful stories: one set in the mid 1920’s and the other at the beginning of the Second World War. Please join us as we discuss:
- Home Fires: the Story of the Women’s Institute in the Second World War by Julie Summers
Walker Branch, Thursday, March 3 at 6 p.m.
- Lady Catherine, the Earl, and the Real Downton Abbey by the Countess of Carnarvon
Uptown Branch, Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m.
