YOUmedia at Harold Washington Library Center is the proud home of a new mural designed and painted by YOUmedia alum, Urban Radical. The mural, entitled Saturn's Summer, depicts five characters representing teens from the “three sides of Chicago” within a bright and surreal setting complete with the planet Saturn, the Chicago skyline, the artist’s trademark “BE HAPPY!” slogan and a quotation from inspirational artist Keith Haring. The mural is an eye-catching and vibrant addition to the already awesome YOUmedia space at Harold Washington.
All are invited to celebrate the unveiling of Saturn's Summer, meet the artist, discuss the work, and enjoy refreshments at the upcoming event, YOUmedia Artist Reception: Urban Radical Presents Saturn's Summer on April 26, 2018.
About the Artist:
Urban Radical was born and raised in Chicago and grew up admiring the downtown Chicago skyline from his far west neighborhood. Today, his art serves as a vehicle to share his “BE HAPPY!” slogan of affirmation and positivity throughout all of Chicago’s neighborhoods. Urban Radical’s art can be seen on walls, stickers and clothing across the city as well as in Lane Tech High School (his alma mater) where he created his first mural, Chicago Rising.
