One Book, One Chicago programming so far? The season is only half over, and there are many more opportunities coming this winter and spring to explore our theme of "Heroes: Real & Imagined" with this year’s selection, Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.
We’ve announced many great programs and events for 2015, including:
- discussions of Chicago’s heroic architecture
- opportunities to create your own superhero mask or ring in the Maker Lab
- an appearance by hip hop poet hero J. Ivy
- a teen open mic event exploring all things heroic in YOUMedia
- an opportunity to sample the world of anti-heroes in film - and maybe some brews too - at Revolution Brewery
- a screening of a film, 50 Children, about two real life heroes who saved 50 Jewish children during the Holocaust
- an appearance by Dav Pilkey, creator of the clueless hero Captain Underpants
- an event with animal expert Jennifer Holland discussing unlikely heroes of the animal kingdom
