Summer’s just around the corner, and teens ages 13-older looking for employment and internship experiences to enrich their learning and growth are in luck! Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle support this program, which brings together government and community-based institutions and organizations, including Chicago Public Library, to offer over 22,000 opportunities for young adults.
At Chicago Public Library, there are 100 teen intern positions for two separate internships:
- Junior CyberNavigator Intern (made possible through an AfterSchool Matters)
- Summer Learning Challenge Intern (made possible through Department of Family and Support Services)
These internships are intended for teens who:
- are City of Chicago residents
- are ages 16 -older with a 3.0 or higher GPA
- are excited about promoting a love of the library and learning activities
Preference will be given to intern candidates who have experience volunteering or working at the library. Learn more about and apply for the above two positions and more by checking out the One Summer Chicago website and submitting your online application today (the application period is open until May 16). We encourage you to use public computers available at your neighborhood libraries to complete the application, which takes approximately twenty minutes.
