The Northtown Branch held a Preteen Book Club for children 9-12 at the end of October. The children were expected to read Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea before we met so we could spend the time discussing the book and working on a movie trailer.
Five preteens attended and the reviews were mixed. Everyone enjoyed reading the different perspectives of the characters in the book, but some found the end "cheesy" and felt like their behavior wasn't realistic to a true fifth-grader. Each participant made a collage based on a particular character from the book using magazines and markers. We then put the pictures together to make a trailer for the book:
